Scope creep. It’s so real and happens incredibly easily. Project requirements can change frequently, and designers and project managers can sometimes in caught up in the changes and forget the original goals, problems and hypotheses.
And while you may not have control over whether requirements change, you can easily keep track of whether the new requirements fit with the old and if your project is losing focus.
This document is a quick template for recording:
- Business Goals
- User Goals/Needs
- Problem statements
- Timelines and Deliverables; and
This approach is great for me because it doesn’t take a lot of time to complete; allows a way to track reasons for changes, which very often are forgotten as projects proceed; and provides a constant source of focus during the course of a project.
